Javaconf MCP Server

🚀 Java Conference MCP Server

This is an MCP server specifically built for Java conferences. It is constructed using Spring Boot and Spring AI, and integrated with the MCP launcher.

💡 This project offers a tool function that allows AI models to obtain information about upcoming Java conferences by parsing public GitHub repositories. The tool can answer questions regarding conference names, Call for Papers (CFP) links, locations, CFP status (open/closed), etc.

🚀 Quick Start

Data Source

The server fetches data from the README.md file in the 🔗 javaconferences/javaconferences.github.io repository. The default data source URL is configured in application.properties as follows: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/javaconferences/javaconferences.github.io/main/README.md

Provided Tools

• Name: getJavaConferences
• Description: Retrieve information about Java conferences for a specific year (if specified and available) or the current year. Parse data for all years marked as H3 headings in the data source.
• Input Parameters:
  • year (String, optional): A four - digit year to retrieve. If not specified or invalid, the current year is used by default.
• Output: Returns a list of JSON objects, where each object represents a conference and contains the following fields:
  • conferenceName (String) - Conference name
  • date (String) - Conference date
  • location (String) - Conference location
  • isHybrid (Boolean) - Whether the conference is hybrid
  • cfpLink (String) - Call for Papers link (if available)
  • cfpDate (String) - Call for Papers deadline (if available)
  • link (String) - Conference main link
  • country (String) - Country where the conference is held

MCP Server Architecture

Configuration

Connecting the MCP Client to the Server (e.g., Claude Desktop)

To connect an MCP client (such as Claude Desktop) to this server:

1. Configure your MCP client to connect to the server. For Claude Desktop, you may need to update the claude_desktop_config.json file as follows:

2. Start the MCP client and ensure it is connected to the server.
