📦 Installation

To use the Norm Command Resource Server, follow these installation steps:

Install via pip

pip install norm-cmd

Clone the repository (optional)

If you need to modify the code or contribute, you can clone this repository:

cd norman-mcp-server

🛠️ Configuration

Create a virtual environment

It is recommended to use a virtual environment to run the Norm Command Resource Server. Here are the steps to create and activate a virtual environment:

Use venv

python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate

Use uv (recommended)

uv venv
source .venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: .venv\Scripts\activate

Install development dependencies

Install additional development dependencies:

pip install -e ".[dev]"

Or use uv:

uv pip install -e ".[dev]"

🚀 Quick Start

Create a .env file

Copy and edit the .env file:

cp .env.template .env
# Fill in your Norman Finance credentials in .env

Run in development mode

Run in development mode using the MCP checker:

mcp dev norman_mcp/server.py

This will start the server and open the MCP checker in your browser, where you can test resources and tools.

Company Information

• View company details: Access via the company://current resource.
• Get the current status: Use the get_company_status tool.

Transaction Management

• List transactions: Call the transactions://list/1/10 resource to view recent transactions.
• Create a transaction: Use the create_transaction tool, with parameters including amount, description, and cash flow type.
• Search transactions: Filter by date range through the search_transactions_prompt prompt.

Invoice Management

• Create an invoice: Call the create_invoice tool, providing the customer ID and product information.
• Send an invoice: Use the send_invoice tool and set the email subject and body content.
• Link transactions to invoices: Associate transactions with invoices through the link_transaction tool.

Client Management

• List all clients: Access the clients://list resource to get the client list.
• View details: Call the get_client tool and enter the client ID to get detailed information.

Document Management

• Upload files: Use the upload_bulk_attachments tool to upload files in bulk and specify the transaction type.
• List attachments: Call the list_attachments tool and filter by file name, association status, and type.

Tax Management

• List tax reports: Access the taxes://list resource to get all available tax reports.
• Generate a preview: Use the generate_finanzamt_preview tool to generate a test Finanzamt preview.
• Submit a report: Call the submit_tax_report tool to complete the tax report submission.
