🚀 RSS MCP Server

This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server developed in TypeScript. It offers a flexible solution for fetching and parsing any standard RSS/Atom feed, with special support for RSSHub feeds. Language models or other MCP clients can effortlessly retrieve structured content from diverse web sources using this server.

The server comes equipped with a pre - defined list of public RSSHub instances and features a polling mechanism to automatically select an available instance. This greatly enhances the success rate and stability of data retrieval.

To get started with the RSS MCP Server, follow these steps:

1. Installation: Clone the project repository and install the necessary dependencies.

cd rss-mcp
npm install

2. Build the Project: Compile the TypeScript code into JavaScript.

npm run build

3. Run the Server: Start the MCP server after a successful build.

npm start

The server will communicate with the parent process (e.g., Cursor) via Stdio. 4. Optional Configuration: You can create a .env file to specify a priority RSSHub instance.

MCP Server Configuration

To use this server with an MCP client like Cursor, add it to your configuration file.

Method 1: Using npx (Recommended)

If the package is published to npm, use npx to run the server without local installation.

1. Locate your MCP configuration file (e.g., ~/.cursor/mcp_settings.json).
2. Add the following server entry:

Method 2: Local Installation

If you've cloned the repository locally, run it directly with node.

1. Clone and build the project as described in the "Installation" and "Usage" sections.
2. Locate your MCP configuration file.
3. Add the following server entry, using the absolute path to the compiled index.js file:

Important: Replace /path/to/your/rss-mcp/dist/index.js with the correct absolute path on your system.

After adding the configuration, restart your MCP client (e.g., Cursor) for the changes to take effect. Then you can call the get_feed tool.

Tool Definition - get_feed

This tool fetches and parses an RSS feed from a given URL, supporting both standard RSS/Atom feeds and RSSHub feeds.

Input Parameters

• url (string, required): The URL of the RSS feed to fetch. Two formats are supported:
  1. Standard URL: https://rsshub.app/bilibili/user/dynamic/208259
  2. rsshub:// protocol: rsshub://bilibili/user/dynamic/208259 (the server will automatically match an available instance)

Returns a JSON string containing the feed information, with the following structure:
