A simple proof-of-concept MCP server for Amadeus, allowing LLM-based agents to utilize Amadeus as a tool.

This server equips LLMs with the ability to directly query real-time flight booking information globally. The available queries include:

• Cheapest tickets for a specific journey.
• All destinations departing from a particular airport.
• All routes operated by an airline.

✨ Features

What is MCP?

Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a client-server protocol designed for LLM agents to interact with tools, resources, and prompts. You can liken it to HTTP for agents. An MCP server hosts a collection of tools that agents can use to fulfill user tasks.

What is Amadeus?

Amadeus is a Global Distribution System (GDS), essentially a booking and reservation system widely employed by numerous travel agents worldwide. It enables the querying of flight and booking information that is typically only accessible to travel agencies and other resellers.

📦 Installation

This project depends on the Python uv project manager uv, which simplifies dependency management and distribution. After installing uv, you can create a virtual environment with all the necessary dependencies to run the project.

uv install

source .venv/bin/activate

Once installed, you need to provide Amadeus-for-developers credentials in a .env file at the project root. You can learn how to obtain such a key on the Amadeus developer pages. After getting the key and secret, place them in a .env file as follows:

AMADEUS_KEY=<YOUR-KEY>
AMADEUS_SECRET=<YOUR-SECRET>

💻 Usage Examples

Running the Server

Once the setup is complete, you can start the FastMCP server:

python server.py

The server will then be ready to accept requests from an LLM agent.

Connecting to Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop has built-in support for interacting with MCP servers. To enable this, open the Claude Desktop developer panel and edit your claude_desktop_config.json to start the server.

Then restart Claude Desktop and start a new conversation. Before typing, select the AmadeusServer from the configuration panel below the text input.

Claude should now detect your tools and use them to solve your tasks.
