Consistent Docx MCP

🚀 Document Format Conversion MCP Server

This is an MCP (Model-Context Protocol) server built on Node.js and TypeScript. It aims to provide a set of tools for large language models (LLMs) to convert between Markdown and DOCX while maintaining consistent document formatting.

This project has been packaged into a command-line tool that can be directly run via npx, achieving true "out-of-the-box" functionality.

docx_to_markdown

• Function: Locally convert a .docx file to plain-text Markdown.
• Description: Read a .docx file from the specified path and extract its plain-text content.
• Parameters: path (string) - The absolute path of the input .docx file.

markdown_to_docx

• Function: Generate a new .docx file based on Markdown content and a reference style.
• Description: Create a new document with consistent formatting by applying the style of a reference .docx file to your Markdown text.
• Parameters:
  • markdown (string) - The Markdown content to be converted.
  • referencePath (string) - The absolute path of the .docx file serving as the style template.
  • outputPath (string) - The absolute path where the generated .docx file will be saved.

📦 Installation

This server can be configured as an independent command-line tool via npx in any MCP-compatible client. This method eliminates the need for manual downloading, installation, or compilation.

1. Open Client Configuration: Locate and open the configuration file of your MCP client (e.g., claude_desktop_config.json for Claude for Desktop).

2. Add Server Configuration: Add the following configuration to the mcpServers object.

⚠️ Important Note

You must replace the value of --api-key with your own real API key.

• consistent-docx-mcp: This is the package name you use when publishing the project to the npm repository.
• --api-key: This is the standard way to pass an API key to the server. Replace the following value with your valid key. To obtain the API key, please contact the author through the WeChat official account "偷偷成精的咸鱼".

3. Restart the Client: Save the configuration file, then fully close and restart your MCP client.

Now, the client will automatically download and run this tool via npx, allowing you to directly call docx_to_markdown and markdown_to_docx within the client.
