archicad-mcp is a framework designed to run an MCP server for Graphisoft Archicad. It leverages the Tapir add - on along with its extra JSON commands, enabling MCP clients such as Anthropic’s Claude to interact with Archicad.

📦 Installation

Tapir

For archicad-mcp to function properly, the Tapir Archicad Add - On is a prerequisite. Please adhere to the installation instructions provided in that repository.

This package also relies on two Tapir files that define the JSON command structure used for automatically compiling MCP - ready tools:

• Tapir Command Definitions file
• Tapir Common Schema Definitions file

These files are stored in the src/mcp_server/tapir folder. If you come across mismatched commands, update the files directly from the Tapir repository. You can also link these files directly from the Tapir repo, but it may lead to mismatches if not updated in sync with the add - on.

FastMCP Server

1. Clone the repository

cd archicad-mcp

2. Setup virtual environment

It is advisable to use uv to install and create a virtual environment. Just run:

uv sync

3. Add to Claude config

Manually edit the config file:

• On Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
• On Mac: ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Add the following block (replace YOUR_DIRECTORY with the full path to archicad - mcp):

Custom Tools

This repository also allows you to add your custom tools, either from the official JSON commands or other sources. You can define them in the src/mcp_server/tools/custom_tools.py file.

For new Archicad - specific commands that are not part of the official JSON commands, it is recommended to contribute them directly to the Tapir repository instead.
