What is Shutter Timelock Encryption?
Shutter Timelock Encryption is a special technology that allows you to encrypt messages, but these messages can only be decrypted at a preset future time point. It's like sending a time capsule to yourself or others in the future, which can only be opened to view the contents when the specified time arrives. How to Use Shutter Timelock?
You can use this service through tools that support the MCP protocol, such as Claude AI or VS Code. Simply tell the AI assistant the message you want to encrypt and the unlock time, and the system will automatically handle the encryption process.Use Cases
Scenarios that require time-controlled message delivery, such as sealed-bid auctions, time-delayed announcements, contest answer revelations, future self-communication, and digital wills.Main Features
Time-Locked Encryption
Encrypt messages so that they can only be decrypted at a specified future time, ensuring that the messages will not be leaked prematurely.
Natural Language Time Parsing
Supports natural language expressions like 'in 3 months' and 'in 1 year', eliminating the need to remember complex time formats.
Multi-Platform Support
Supports both Claude Web and VS Code, providing flexible usage options.
Decryption Status Query
Check the unlock status of encrypted messages at any time to know when they can be decrypted.
Advantages
No need to trust third parties: Based on a decentralized network, no single institution can decrypt the messages prematurely.
Flexible time settings: Supports multiple time expression methods, making it easy to use.
Cross-platform compatibility: Can be used in different AI assistants and development environments.
Transparent and verifiable: All operations are verifiable on the blockchain.
Limitations
Currently in the test version: Uses the Chiado test network and is not suitable for production environments.
Demonstration-level encryption: The current implementation is for demonstration purposes and is not a production-grade encryption algorithm.
Network dependency: Requires an Internet connection and the normal operation of the Shutter network.
Time accuracy: The decryption time depends on the network key release mechanism.
How to Use
Set Up Integration
Add a custom integration in the Claude Web settings or configure the VS Code MCP extension.
Encrypt a Message
Use natural language to tell the AI assistant the message to be encrypted and the unlock time.
Save the Returned Information
The system will return the encrypted data and the identity identifier. Please save them properly for future decryption.
Decrypt the Message
After the unlock time arrives, use the saved identity identifier and encrypted data to decrypt the message.
Usage Examples
Sealed-Bid Auction
In corporate bidding, all bidders encrypt their quotes and set them to unlock after the bid opening time to ensure fairness.
Future Self-Communication
Send an encouraging message or goal reminder to yourself in the future and unlock it at a specific time point to view.
Contest Answer Protection
Contest organizers encrypt the correct answers and automatically unlock and announce them after the contest ends.
