What is mcp-multi-jira?
mcp-multi-jira is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server specifically designed to manage multiple Jira accounts. It enables you to configure and use multiple Atlassian Jira accounts in one tool and switch between different accounts by simply using account alias parameters without changing the configuration or logging in again. How to use mcp-multi-jira?
It's very easy to use: First, log in to your Jira account via the CLI and set an alias. Then, install it in your preferred AI programming assistant (such as Cursor, Claude Code, etc.). After restarting the IDE, you can use different Jira accounts by specifying the account alias in the conversation.Applicable scenarios
Suitable for users who need to manage multiple Jira environments simultaneously, such as developers switching between work and personal projects, consultants managing projects for different clients, teams managing multiple tenants or sites, and users who need to switch between different permission environments.Main features
Multi-account management
Supports configuring and managing multiple Jira accounts. Each account has an independent alias, and you can specify which account to use through parameters when calling the tool.
Flexible token storage
Provides three token storage methods: plain text (default), encrypted storage, and operating system keychain. You can choose according to your security requirements.
Integration with mainstream AI assistants
Supports mainstream AI programming assistants such as Cursor, Claude Code, and OpenAI Codex CLI, and provides a one-click installation and configuration function.
OAuth client customization
Supports customizing the OAuth client ID and key to meet enterprise-level security requirements and custom integration needs.
Automatic configuration and installation
Provides an install command to automatically create MCP configuration files for supported AI assistants, simplifying the setup process.
Advantages
Manage multiple Jira accounts in one place without switching between different configurations
Keep the AI assistant configuration stable and only need to specify the account alias in the prompt
Flexible token storage options to meet different security requirements
Support mainstream AI programming assistants with simple integration
Friendly command-line interface with intuitive operations
Limitations
Requires basic command-line operation knowledge
Encrypted storage requires setting environment variables to manage the master password
Plain text storage is not suitable for shared computer environments
Need to restart the AI assistant/IDE to apply configuration changes
How to use
Installation and setup
Install globally via npm or run the mcp-multi-jira command directly using npx.
Log in to Jira accounts
Create an alias for each Jira account and log in. The system will guide you through the OAuth authorization process.
Configure token storage (optional)
Choose the token storage method as needed. Encrypted storage requires setting the MCP_JIRA_TOKEN_PASSWORD environment variable.
Install to AI assistant
Run the install command to automatically create configuration files for supported AI assistants or add the configuration manually.
Restart and use
Restart your AI assistant/IDE, and then use different Jira accounts by specifying the account alias in the conversation.
Usage examples
Cross-account task management
Developers handle company projects and personal projects simultaneously and need to quickly switch between different Jira accounts to view tasks.
Multi-client project management
Consultants manage Jira projects for multiple clients, and each client has an independent Jira instance and permissions.
Environment isolation testing
Testers need to switch between Jira in the development, testing, and production environments to verify the status of issues.
