What is mcp-meet?

mcp-meet is an intelligent meeting scheduling tool designed specifically for macOS users. It solves the problem of high power consumption when running Google applications locally, allowing you to continue using native Apple applications while easily arranging meetings with Google Meet links. By integrating with an AI assistant (such as Claude), you can arrange meetings directly in natural language, and the system will automatically handle all technical details.

How to use mcp-meet?

Using mcp-meet is very simple: First, complete the one-time Google account authorization configuration, and then enable the mcp-meet server in your AI assistant (such as Claude Desktop). After that, you can directly tell the AI assistant to arrange a meeting in natural language. For example, 'Arrange a 30-minute meeting for me with Zhang San'. The system will automatically search for contacts, find free time, create the meeting, and sync it to your Apple Calendar.

Applicable scenarios

mcp-meet is particularly suitable for the following scenarios: 1. Remote workers who often need to arrange team meetings. 2. Users who want to reduce switching between multiple calendar applications. 3. Users who prefer to use native Apple applications but need Google Meet functionality. 4. Users who want to automate the meeting arrangement process through an AI assistant. 5. Project managers or team leaders who need to coordinate the time of multiple people.

Main features

Intelligent contact search
Search for Google contacts by name or email, quickly find the participants to be invited, and avoid manually entering complex email addresses.
Multi-person free time query
Automatically check the busy and free status of all participants within the specified time period, support queries across multiple calendars, and ensure that truly available time is found.
Common free time slot search
Intelligently analyze the schedules of all participants to find the common time periods when everyone is free, avoiding the trouble of coordinating time back and forth.
One-click intelligent scheduling
Just specify the meeting duration and participants, and the system will automatically find the first suitable free time slot and complete the meeting creation without manually selecting the time.
Automatically generate Meet links
Each created meeting will automatically generate a Google Meet video conference link, and participants can join by clicking on it without additional operations.
Apple Calendar synchronization
All created meetings will be automatically synced to the native calendar application of macOS, allowing you to manage all meetings in a familiar interface.
Complete meeting management
Supports viewing, modifying, and deleting created meetings. All operations will be synchronously updated to Google and Apple Calendars to maintain data consistency.
Multi-account support
You can configure and manage multiple Google accounts, making it convenient to switch between different work or personal accounts.
Advantages
Power-saving and efficient: Avoid running power-consuming Google desktop applications and extend the battery life of your MacBook.
Easy to operate: Interact with the AI assistant in natural language without learning a complex interface.
Time-saving: Automatically coordinate the time of multiple people and reduce the cost of back-and-forth communication.
Seamless integration: Perfectly combine Google Meet with the Apple Calendar, taking into account both functionality and experience.
Intelligent recommendation: Recommend the best meeting time slots based on actual free time.
Cross-platform synchronization: Once created, the meeting will be updated simultaneously in Google and Apple Calendars.
Limitations
Only supports the macOS system. Windows and Linux users cannot use it.
Requires Google account authorization, which involves privacy considerations.
The initial configuration is relatively complex and requires a technical foundation.
Depends on a stable network connection to access the Google API.
Free Google accounts have a limit on the number of API calls.
Requires Claude Desktop or other AI assistants that support MCP.

How to use

Installation and configuration
First, install Node.js 18 or a higher version, and then install the mcp-meet package via npm or pnpm. Create a Google Cloud project and enable the Calendar and People APIs to obtain OAuth credentials.
Environment configuration
Create a.env configuration file and fill in your Google OAuth credentials and other optional configurations, such as the calendar IDs to be checked and the name of the Apple Calendar.
Account authorization
Run the authorization command, log in to your Google account in the browser, and grant the necessary permissions. After authorization is completed, the token will be automatically saved.
Configure the AI assistant
Add the mcp-meet server configuration to Claude Desktop or other AI assistants that support MCP, and specify the execution command and parameters.
Start using
Restart the AI assistant. Now you can arrange meetings in natural language. The system will automatically handle contact search, time finding, and meeting creation.
