What is The Code Registry MCP Server?
The Code Registry MCP Server is an enterprise-level intelligent code analysis platform designed specifically for business leaders (merger and acquisition professionals, CTOs, venture capitalists, board members). It enables AI assistants to directly analyze codebases through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), providing functions such as technical due diligence, technical debt assessment, and security vulnerability detection. Core value: Allow business decision-makers without a technical background to quickly understand the technical status of a codebase. Without manual code review, professional analysis results can be obtained within 30 minutes to a few hours. How to use The Code Registry?
Using The Code Registry is very simple and only requires a few steps: 1. Configure the MCP server URL in an AI assistant (such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.). 2. Create an account and project through the AI assistant. 3. Select the code source (local folder, Git repository, etc.). 4. Start the analysis and wait for the results. 5. View the analysis report and PDF document. The entire process is completed in the AI conversation without leaving the chat interface.Applicable scenarios
The Code Registry is particularly suitable for the following scenarios: • Merger and acquisition due diligence: Quickly assess the technical risks and architectural issues of an acquisition target. • Technical debt monitoring: Track changes in the technical debt of portfolio companies. • Security audit: Identify security vulnerabilities and compliance issues. • Portfolio management: Track engineering metrics across multiple companies. • Technical decision support: Provide objective technical insights for CTOs and boards of directors.Main features
Zero-configuration account creation
The AI assistant can automatically create an account for the user, only requiring the email, name, and company name. No manual registration is required, simplifying the onboarding process.
Privacy-first local analysis
When using the LOCAL_AGENT code source type, the code remains on the user's local machine, and only an anonymized compressed package of the analysis results is uploaded to protect code privacy.
Comprehensive code analysis
Analyze multiple dimensions such as security vulnerabilities, code complexity, programming language distribution, file types, code quality, license compliance, and technical debt.
Executive-friendly reports
Automatically generate PDF reports and send them via email, suitable for non-technical stakeholders to read and understand.
Multi-code source support
Supports multiple code sources such as local code repositories or folders, Git repositories, and file archives to adapt to different usage scenarios.
Full support for the MCP protocol
Fully compatible with the MCP JSON-RPC 2.0 protocol, supporting all standard functions such as tool calls, resource access, and prompt word retrieval.
Advantages
Fast analysis: Obtain results within 30 minutes to a few hours, much faster than traditional manual reviews.
No technical background required: Business leaders can understand technical risks.
Privacy protection: The LOCAL_AGENT mode ensures that the code does not leave the local environment.
Automated reporting: PDF reports are automatically generated and sent via email.
AI integration: Use directly in AI conversations without switching tools.
Objective assessment: Data-based objective analysis reduces subjective bias.
Limitations
Requires an MCP-compatible client: Must use an AI assistant that supports the MCP protocol.
Code volume limit: The free version supports a maximum of 200,000 lines of code.
Analysis time depends on code volume: Large codebases may take several hours.
Requires Docker: The LOCAL_AGENT mode requires local installation of Docker.
Reanalysis overwrites history: Previous version data cannot be accessed after reanalysis.
How to use
Configure the MCP server
Add The Code Registry MCP server to your MCP-compatible client (such as Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.).
Create an account
Create an account through the AI assistant using the create_account tool, providing the email, name, and company name.
Create a project
Use the create_project tool to create a project for the codebase to be analyzed.
Create a code vault
Use the create-code-vault tool to create an analysis task. It is recommended to choose the LOCAL_AGENT source type to protect privacy.
Run local analysis (if using LOCAL_AGENT)
If you choose LOCAL_AGENT, run the analysis locally according to the returned Docker command.
Get analysis results
Use the get-code-vault-results tool to get the analysis results. You may need to poll and wait for the analysis to complete.
View reports
Use the get-code-vault-reports tool to get the PDF report link. The report will also be automatically sent to the registered email.
Usage examples
Merger and acquisition technical due diligence
When considering acquiring a technology company, quickly assess the technical risks, architectural quality, and security status of its codebase.
Portfolio technology monitoring
Venture capitalists regularly monitor the technical health of portfolio companies, tracking changes in technical debt and engineering efficiency.
Internal code quality audit
CTOs regularly audit the company's internal codebase, identify security risks and technical debt, and develop improvement plans.
