🚀 Azure MCP (Model Context Protocol) for Claude Desktop

Azure MCP is an implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) that enables Claude Desktop to interact with Azure services. This integration allows Claude to directly query and manage Azure resources through natural language conversations.

🚀 Quick Start

1. If Claude Desktop is running, close it first (check the Task Manager).
2. Launch Claude Desktop.
3. In the chat, you can ask Azure - related questions, such as:
   • "Can you get all available Azure accounts and subscriptions?"
   • "List all resource groups in my current subscription."
   • "Show all virtual machines in a specific resource group."

📦 Installation

Manual Installation

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/Streen9/azure-mcp.git
cd azure-mcp

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Configure Claude Desktop:
   • Open claude_desktop_config.json.
   • Add the following MCP configuration:

🔧 Technical Details

Authentication

The server supports multiple authentication methods through DefaultAzureCredential:

• Environment variables
• Managed identity
• Azure CLI
• Visual Studio Code
• Interactive browser

The server will try these methods in sequence until one of them succeeds.

Authentication Issues

• Ensure you are logged in via Azure CLI (az login).

• Check if the paths in the configuration file match the installation.
• Ensure that no other instances are running.

Common Errors

• NO_TENANT: Use the "select - tenant" tool to select a tenant.
• NO_CLIENTS: Ensure proper initialization and authentication.
• CODE_EXECUTION_FAILED: Check Azure permissions and connections.
