🚀 Astra Database MCP Server

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that interacts with the Astra database storage system. MCP extends the capabilities of Large Language Models (LLMs), enabling them to act as agents and interact with external systems.

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

You need a running Astra database. If you don't have one, you can create a free database here. From there, you can obtain two important pieces of information:

1. An Astra database application token
2. The Astra database API endpoint

To learn how to obtain these, read the Getting Started Guide documentation.

Adding to MCP Clients

Claude Desktop

To add this server to Claude Desktop, go to "Preferences" -> "Developer" -> "Edit Configuration", and add the following JSON block to the claude_desktop_config.json file:

Cursor

To add this server to Cursor, go to "Settings" -> "Cursor Settings" -> "MCP".

From there, you can access the mcp.json file by clicking the "+ Add new MCP server" button.

💡 Usage Tip

There is a global ~/.cursor/mcp.json file representing your global MCP settings, and a project-specific .cursor/mcp.json file for individual projects. You may want to install this MCP server in the project-specific file.

You can enter the following (for Unix systems):

• Name: Any name
• Type: Command
• Command:

After adding, your editor will be fully integrated with the Astra database.
