📋 Prerequisites

• Python 3.x
• Storm Glass API key

🔑 Get Your Storm Glass API Key

1. Visit Storm Glass.
2. Click "Free Trial" or "Log In" to create an account.
3. After registration, you will receive an API key.

⚠️ Important Note

API usage limits:

• Free tier: 10 requests per day.
• Available paid plans:
  • Small: 500 requests per day (€19/month).
  • Medium: 5000 requests per day (€49/month).
  • Large: 25,000 requests per day (€129/month).
  • Enterprise: Custom plans available.

Choose the appropriate plan according to your usage needs. The free tier is suitable for testing and personal use.

📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/ravinahp/surf-mcp.git
cd surf-mcp

2. Install dependencies using uv:

uv sync

⚠️ Important Note

We use uv instead of pip because the project uses pyproject.toml for dependency management.

⚙️ Configuration

• Command: uv
• Parameters: You need to fill in the API key and path.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

• This tool provides a tide information query function, supporting queries for tide conditions at specific times by date.
• Example: Enter the following command in the terminal to get tide data for the current time:

uv [api-key] [path]

🔧 Error Handling

The service includes a robust error - handling mechanism, covering:

• Failed API requests
• Invalid coordinates
• Missing or invalid API keys
• Network timeouts

💡 Example #1: Find the Best Surfing Time

You can use this tool to determine the best surfing time for your favorite beach. Generally, the best surfing conditions occur during the incoming tide, approximately 2 hours before high tide.

⚠️ Important Note

The best surfing conditions may vary for different beaches due to geographical location and wave types. This tool also provides station distance information, which should be considered when using it (i.e., a longer station distance means higher inaccuracy).
