• google_search - Perform web searches via the Serper API

  • Rich search results including organic results, knowledge graphs, "People also ask", and related searches

  • Optional parameters include location, pagination, time filters, and auto-correction

    • site: Limit results to a specific domain name
    • filetype: Limit to specific file types (e.g., 'pdf', 'doc')
    • inurl: Search for pages with URLs containing specified words
    • intitle: Search for pages with specified words in the title
    • related: Find similar websites
    • cache: View a specific URL version in Google's cache
    • before: Get results before a specified date in YYYY-MM-DD format
    • after: Get results after a specified date in YYYY-MM-DD format
    • exact: Exact phrase matching
    • exclude: Terms to exclude from search results
    • or: Alternative words (OR operator)

• scrape - Extract content from web pages

  • Get content in plain text and optional Markdown format
  • Include JSON-LD and header metadata
  • Support for cookies and JavaScript rendering

📋 Requirements

• Node.js version: 14.19.1 or higher
• The environment variable SERPER_API_KEY must be set. Refer to the official website for obtaining it.

📦 Installation and Running

Install Dependencies

npm install

Build the Project

npm run build

Start the Server

npm start

💡 Debugging Suggestions

If you encounter issues, check the following logs:

• src/utils/logger.ts - Records basic information
• src/utils/selenium_logger.ts - Records browser operation logs
• If you need to debug JavaScript rendering issues, you can try reducing Puppeteer's memory limit:

npm run dev --args=--memory=1024MB

📥 Installation Methods

Via Smithery CLI

Claude Desktop Configuration

Method 1: Run the command directly

env SERPER_API_KEY=your_api_key_here npx -y serper-search-scrape-mcp-server

Method 2: Create a custom startup item

• Name: Any name
• Command: env SERPER_API_KEY=your_api_key_here npx -y serper-search-scrape-mcp-server

Cline Configuration

In the "MCP Servers" section of Cline, add a new server:

• Select the "Command" type
• Enter the following in the "Command" field:

env SERPER_API_KEY=your_api_key_here npx -y serper-search-scrape-mcp-server

Docker Running

Build the Image

docker build -t mcp-server-serper .

Start the Container

docker run -e SERPER_API_KEY=your_api_key_here mcp-server-serper

Use the .env File

docker run --env-file .env mcp-server-serper

Mount in the Development Environment

docker run -v $(pwd):/app --env-file .env mcp-server-serper
