🚀 MCP Gmail Server

This Model Context Protocol (MCP) server is designed for Gmail integration, enabling Claude Desktop (or other MCP clients) to interact with your Gmail account via Google Apps Script.

🚀 Quick Start (User)

Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+ (Install via brew install node)
• Gmail account
• Google Apps Script deployment
• Claude Desktop (Download and install from https://claude.ai/desktop)

Configuration

1. Deploy Google Apps Script

• Visit Google Apps Script to create a new project.
• Copy all the content from the code.gs file and paste it into the script editor.
• Click "Deploy" > "New deployment".
• Select "Web app" as the deployment type.
• Configure the following settings:
  • Execution context: Me
  • Who has access: Anyone
  • Click "Deploy".
• When prompted, review and authorize the script to access your Gmail account.
• Copy the deployment URL and generate a random API key for security.

⚠️ Important Note

The script requires Gmail access. When deploying and running the script for the first time, Google will ask you to review and grant these permissions. Please ensure to:

1. Click "Review permissions".

2. Select your Google account.

3. If a warning appears, click "Advanced".

4. Click "Go to [Your project name] (unsafe)".

5. Click "Allow" to grant the necessary Gmail permissions.

6. Open the Claude Desktop configuration file: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

You can find this file by following these steps:

1. Open Claude Desktop.

2. Click "Claude" in the menu bar.

3. Select "Settings".

4. Click "Developer".

5. Add the following content to the configuration file:

⚠️ Important Note

Replace YOUR_DEPLOYMENT_URL and YOUR_API_KEY with your actual values.

Installation

Development Configuration

1. Ensure that Claude Desktop is installed and running.

2. Install tsx globally if it's not already installed:

npm install -g tsx
# Or
pnpm add -g tsx

3. Modify your Claude Desktop configuration file located at: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Add the following content to the configuration of the MCP client:

Available Tools

The project provides the following features:

1. Search for emails.
2. Get the content of specific emails.
3. Download attachments.

⚠️ Important Note

• Security first: Ensure the confidentiality of the API key to avoid security risks caused by leakage.
• Permission management: Set the permissions of Google Apps Script reasonably to prevent unauthorized access.

With this project, you can easily integrate Claude Desktop with Gmail to automate email processing tasks.
