🚀 Playwright Server MCP Server

This is an MCP server integrated with the Playwright tool.

Resources

This server implements a simple note storage system with the following features:

• A custom note:// URI scheme for accessing individual notes.
• Each note resource includes a name, description, and text/plain MIME type.

Prompts

The server provides a prompt:

• summarize-notes: Generates a summary of all stored notes.
  • An optional "style" parameter to control the level of detail (brief/detail).
  • Generates a prompt that combines all current notes based on the current style preference.

Tools

The server implements the following tools:

• playwright_navigate: Navigates to a specified URL. If there is no active session, this operation will automatically create a new one.
  • Requires a url parameter (string).
• playwright_screenshot: Takes a screenshot of the current page or a specific element.
  • Requires a name parameter (string) as the screenshot file name.
  • An optional selector parameter (string) to specify a CSS selector for taking a screenshot of a specific element. If no selector is provided, a full-page screenshot will be taken.
• playwright_click: Clicks an element on the page, located using a CSS selector.
  • Requires a selector parameter (string) to specify the CSS selector of the element to be clicked.
• playwright_fill: Fills an input field.
  • Requires a selector parameter (string) to specify the CSS selector of the input field.
  • Requires a value parameter (string) to specify the value to be filled.
• playwright_evaluate: Executes JavaScript code in the browser console.
  • Requires a script parameter (string) to specify the JavaScript code to be executed.
• playwright_click_text: Clicks an element on the page by its text content.
  • Requires a text parameter (string) to specify the text content of the element to be clicked.
• playwright_get_text_content: Retrieves the text content of all visible elements.
• playwright_get_html_content: Retrieves the HTML content of the page.
  • Requires a selector parameter (string) to specify the CSS selector of the element.

Installation

Claude Desktop

Development

Clone the Repository

Use the following command to clone the Playwright server repository:

git clone https://github.com/your-username/playwright-server.git
cd playwright-server

Install Dependencies

Run the following command to install the project dependencies:

npm install

Start the Development Server

Use the following command to start the Playwright server:

npm run dev

Package and Build

To package and build the production version, run the following command:

npm run build

Debugging

For debugging, you can access the following endpoints:

• API documentation: /api/docs
• Performance monitoring: /api/healthz

To debug using the MCP Inspector, follow these steps:

1. Install the MCP Inspector:

npm install -g @playwright/mcp-inspector

2. Start the MCP Inspector to analyze the Playwright server:

mcp-inspect http://localhost:3000

In this way, you can view and analyze the performance of the Playwright server in the MCP Inspector user interface.
