📦 Installation

Install via Smithery

To automatically install the Discord Raw API for Claude Desktop via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @hanweg/mcp-discord-raw --client claude

Manual Installation

1. Set up your Discord bot:
   • Create a new application in the Discord Developer Console.
   • Create a bot user for your application and obtain its token.
2. Install dependencies and set up the project structure:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/mcp-discord-raw.git
   cd mcp-discord-raw
   npm install
   

3. Configure the environment variables for the Discord API:
   • Create a .env file and add the following content (replace YOUR_DISCORD_TOKEN with your own token):

   DISCORD_TOKEN=your_discord_token_here
   

4. Run the server:

   npm start

Basic Usage

Create a Channel

Recommendations

• Save IDs: Save the IDs returned by creation requests for future use.
• Unicode Emojis: Directly including Unicode emojis (e.g., \:champagne_glass:) in messages may cause Claude Desktop to hang. Instruct the model to use Discord emojis.
• Channel Types: 0 = Text, 2 = Voice, 4 = Category, 13 = Stage
• Role Colors: Represented in decimal format (not hexadecimal).
• Most Modification Endpoints: Use the PATCH method.
• Empty Payloads: Should be {} instead of null.
