📦 Installation

Build from Source Code

Install dependencies:

npm install

Build the server:

npm run build

Automatically rebuild during development:

npm run watch

To use it in Claude Code, execute the following command:

Make sure to replace the placeholders with the actual MongoDB connection string and default database name.

Requirements

Environment Variables

• MONGODB_URI (Required): The MongoDB connection string, including the username and password if authentication is required.
• MONGODB_DEFAULT_DATABASE (Optional): The name of the default database to use when not specified.

Prerequisites

Debugging

Since the MCP server communicates via standard input and output, debugging can be challenging. Use the available MCP Inspector, which is provided as a package script:

npm run inspector

The inspector will provide a URL that you can access in your browser to use the debugging tools.
