🚀 SQLite MCP Server

A server implementation based on the Model Context Protocol (MCP), providing database interaction and business intelligence functions through SQLite. This server allows running SQL queries, analyzing business data, and automatically generating business insights memos.

🚀 Quick Start

The SQLite MCP Server is a powerful tool for database interaction and business intelligence. It enables users to run SQL queries, analyze business data, and generate business insights memos automatically.

📦 Installation

1. Install Bun if you haven't already.
2. Clone this repository.
3. Install dependencies:

   bun install
   

4. Run the setup script to configure the server in Claude Desktop:

   bun run setup
   

The setup script will automatically add the server configuration to your Claude Desktop configuration file, which is located at:

• macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Resources

The server exposes a dynamic resource:

• memo://insights: A continuously updated business insights memo that aggregates all insights discovered during the analysis process.
  • It updates automatically as new insights are discovered by the append-insight tool.

Prompts

The server provides a demonstration prompt:

• mcp-demo: An interactive prompt that guides users through database operations.
  • Required parameter: topic (string) - The business area to be analyzed.
  • Automatically generates appropriate database schemas and sample data.
  • Guides users through analysis and insight generation.
  • Integrates with the business insights memo.

Tools

The server offers six core tools:

Query Tools

• read-query

  • Executes a SELECT query to read data.
  • Input:
    • query (string): The SELECT SQL query to be executed.
  • Returns: The query results as an array of objects.

• write-query

  • Executes an INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE query.
  • Input:
    • query (string): The SQL operation query.
  • Returns: { affected_rows: number }

• create-table

  • Creates a new table.
  • Input:
    • query (string): The CREATE TABLE SQL statement.
  • Returns: Confirmation of table creation.

Schema Tools

• list-tables

  • Retrieves a list of all tables in the database.
  • No input required.
  • Returns: An array of table names.

• describe-table

  • Views the schema information of a specific table.
  • Input:
    • table_name (string): The name of the table to be described.
  • Returns: An array of column definitions, including names and types.

Analysis Tools

• append-insight
  • Adds new business insights to the memo resource.
  • Input:
    • insight (string): The business insights discovered from data analysis.
  • Returns: Confirmation that the insights have been added.
  • Triggers an update to the memo://insights resource.

🔧 Technical Details

Project Structure

• src/index.ts: The main server implementation file.
• src/logger.ts: A logging utility.
• scripts/setup.ts: The Claude Desktop configuration script.

Logging

The server maintains detailed logs:

• server.log: Located in the project root directory.
• The logs contain timestamps, log levels (DEBUG, INFO, WARN, ERROR, FATAL), and structured metadata.

Database

The SQLite database file is located at:

• data.sqlite: Located in the project root directory.
• It will be automatically created if it doesn't exist.

Available Scripts

• bun run setup: Configures the server.
• bun run dev: Runs the server in development mode.
• bun run build: Builds the project.
• bun run lint: Checks the code style.
