🚀 Task Warrior MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for TaskWarrior operations implemented in Node.js.

✨ Features

• View pending tasks.
• Filter tasks by project and tags.
• Add new tasks, including description, due date, priority, project, and tags.
• Mark tasks as completed.

⚠️ Important Note

This server runs the local task binary, so TaskWarrior needs to be installed and configured!

The current version uses the task id, which is an unstable identifier. TaskWarrior may renumber tasks when new tasks are added or removed. In the future, task UUIDs will be used instead for more stable handling.

API Tools

• get_next_tasks

  • Retrieve a list of all pending tasks.
  • Optional filtering criteria:
    • project: Filter by project name.
    • tags: Filter by one or more tags.

• add_task

  • Add a new task to TaskWarrior.
  • Required fields:
    • description: Text description of the task.
  • Optional fields:
    • due: Due date (ISO timestamp).
    • priority: Priority level ("H", "M", or "L").
    • project: Project name (lowercase with dots).
    • tags: Array of tags (lowercase).

• mark_task_done

  • Mark a task as completed.
  • Required field:
    • identifier: Task ID or UUID.

📦 Installation

npm install -g mcp-server-taskwarrior

Make sure you have TaskWarrior (task) installed and configured.
