A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes Cloudinary's upload and management API methods as tools via an AI assistant. This integration allows AI systems to trigger and interact with your Cloudinary cloud.

How It Works

The MCP server:

• Calls the Cloudinary API on your behalf.
• Allows the AI assistant to upload files to Cloudinary.
• Enables management of your Cloudinary cloud resources.

It relies on Cloudinary's API to perform these operations. Not all methods and parameters are supported, and more functionality will be added in the future.

Using Claude Desktop

Prerequisites

• NodeJS
• An MCP client (e.g., Claude Desktop App)
• Create and copy your Cloudinary API Key/Secret at API Keys.

Installation

To use this server with the Claude Desktop application, add the following configuration to the "mcpServers" section of claude_desktop_config.json:

• CLOUDINARY_CLOUD_NAME - Your cloud name.
• CLOUDINARY_API_KEY - Your Cloudinary API key.
• CLOUDINARY_API_SECRET - Your Cloudinary API secret.

Tools

The following tools are available:

1. Upload

   • Description: Upload a file (asset) to Cloudinary.
   • Parameters:
     • source: URL, file path, Base64 content, or binary data to upload.
     • folder: Optional Cloudinary folder path.
     • publicId: Optional public ID for the uploaded file.
     • resourceType: Type of resource to upload (image, video, raw, auto).
     • tags: Comma-separated list of tags to assign to the asset.

2. Delete Asset

   • Description: Delete a specific file (asset) from Cloudinary.
   • Parameters:
     • publicId: Public ID of the asset to delete.
     • assetId: Asset ID of the asset to delete.

3. Get Asset

   • Description: Get detailed information about a specified file (asset).
   • Parameters:
     • assetId: Cloudinary asset ID.
     • publicId: Public ID of the asset.
     • resourceType: Resource type (image, raw, video).
     • type: Delivery type (upload, private, authenticated, etc.).
     • tags: Whether to include a list of tag names.
     • context: Whether to include context metadata.
     • metadata: Whether to include structured metadata.

4. Find Assets

   • Description: Search for existing files (assets) in Cloudinary using a query expression.
   • Parameters:
     • expression: Search expression (e.g., 'tags=cat' or 'public_id:folder/*').
     • resourceType: Resource type (image, raw, video).
     • maxResults: Maximum number of results.
     • nextCursor: Cursor for pagination.

5. Get Usage

   • Description: Get detailed information about your product environment usage, including storage, credits, bandwidth, requests, number of resources, and add-on feature usage.
   • Parameters:
     • date: Optional. Usage report for a date in the format yyyy-mm-dd. Must be within the past 3 months. Default: Current date.
