Send real-time images from your webcam to Claude Desktop (or other MCP clients). Provide "capture" and "screenshot" tools to allow Claude to capture a frame from the webcam or initiate a screenshot operation. Offer a "Current View" resource from the webcam.

🚀 Quick Start

Launch Claude Desktop and connect to http://localhost:3333. You can ask Claude to get the latest picture from the webcam, say "Claude, what am I showing?", or ask "What color top am I wearing?". You can also "freeze" the current image so that the frozen image will be returned to Claude instead of a real-time capture.

You can ask Claude to take a screenshot. Navigate to the browser to guide the screenshot area, and the screenshot will be triggered when the request arrives. The screenshot will be automatically resized for easy processing by Claude (this feature is very useful if your screen is 4K). The button allows you to test the platform-specific screenshot user experience - it is only used to prepare for requests initiated by Claude. Note: Safari does not support this feature because it requires manual initiation.

📦 Installation

The NPM package is named @llmindset/mcp-webcam.

Please install the latest version of NodeJS suitable for your platform, and then add the following to the mcpServers section of your claude_desktop_config.json file:

This tool will work on Windows and MacOS as long as you are using Claude Desktop 0.78 or higher.

This tool accepts a parameter to set the port of the embedded Express server. The default port is 3333 (to avoid conflicts with the Inspector).

MCP Sampling

Click the "What am I showing?" button to send a sampling request to the client, which includes a picture and the question What is the user showing?.

💡 Usage Tip

Claude Desktop currently does not support sampling. If you want to use a client that can handle multimodal sampling requests, please try https://github.com/evalstate/fast-agent.
