🚀 Markdown2PDF MCP Server (markdown2pdf-mcp)

A MCP server for converting Markdown documents to PDF files. This server provides a simple and efficient way to generate PDFs from Markdown content, supporting syntax highlighting, custom styles, and allowing watermarks to be added to the first page.

This project is inspired by Alan Shaw's markdown-pdf.

⚠️ Limitations

The following Markdown elements are not supported:

• LaTeX mathematical formulas (e.g., $x^2$ or $$\sum_{i=1}^n x_i$$).
• Complex mathematical formulas or scientific notations.

Please use only the following supported Markdown elements:

• Headings (all levels).
• Text formatting (bold, italic, strikethrough).
• Lists (ordered and unordered).
• Code blocks with syntax highlighting.
• Tables.
• Blockquotes.
• Links.
• Images (local files and external URLs).
• Task lists.

📦 Installation

# Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/2b3pro/markdown2pdf-mcp.git

# Navigate to the project directory
cd markdown2pdf-mcp

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Build the project
npm run build

Start the Server

Use the MCP Tool

The server provides a single tool create_pdf_from_markdown with the following parameters:

📂 Configure the Output Directory

To change the default output directory (./dist), you can create a .env file in the project root directory and add the following content:

OUTPUT_DIR=your_desired_directory

📚 Dependencies

• pdfmake - Mainly used for PDF generation.
• jsdom - Used for rendering Markdown.
• marked - Markdown parser.

🌐 Chrome Version

Since pdfmake depends on the Chrome Blink engine, it is recommended to install the latest version of Chrome browser.
