This project is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides access to Bear Notes.

Bear uses an SQLite database to store notes. This MCP server accesses these notes by running some SQL commands. https://bear.app/faq/where-are-bears-notes-located

📦 Installation

# Clone the project
git clone https://github.com/akseyh/bear-mcp-server

# Change directory
cd bear-mcp-server

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Build the project
npm run build

Configuration for Claude Desktop

Update your claude_desktop_config.json file.

When the server starts, the following MCP tools will be available:

• get_notes: Get all notes
• get_tags: List all tags
• get_notes_like: Search for notes containing specific text

Requirements

• Node.js
• Bear note-taking application (macOS)
• Access to the Bear database
