🚀 mcp-installer - A Server for Installing MCP Servers

This server can install other MCP servers for you. After installation, you can ask Claude to install MCP servers hosted on npm or PyPi for you. npx and uv are required to install Node.js and Python servers respectively.

📦 Installation

Add the following content to your claude_desktop_config.json file (the path is ~/Library/Application Support/Claude on macOS and C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Claude on Windows):

Basic Usage

Here are some example prompts you can use to ask Claude to install MCP servers:

Hi, Claude, install the MCP server named mcp-server-fetch.

Hi, Claude, please install the @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem package as an MCP server. Use ['/Users/anibetts/Desktop'] as the parameters.

Hi, Claude, please help me install the MCP server located at /Users/anibetts/code/mcp-youtube. I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Install the MCP server @modelcontextprotocol/server-github. Set the environment variable GITHUB_PERSONAL_ACCESS_TOKEN to '1234567890'.
