🚀 BnF API Server

A server based on MCP (Model - Client - Protocol) for accessing the Gallica API of the French National Library (BnF) and generating sequential research reports.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8 or higher.
• Pip (Python package manager).

Installation Steps

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/votre-nom/mcp-bnf.git
cd mcp-bnf

2. Install dependencies:

pip install -r requirements.txt

Configuration with Claude Desktop

1. Install Claude Desktop (if not already installed).
2. Open Claude Desktop's configuration:
   • Access Claude Desktop's settings.
   • Open the configuration file (usually located at %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json).

Replace chemin\\vers\\mcp-bnf with your actual installation path. 3. Save the configuration file and restart Claude Desktop.

Available MCP Tools

After configuration, the following tools will be available in Claude Desktop:

Search in Gallica

Allows searching for documents in the Gallica digital library of the French National Library using different criteria (title, author, subject, date, document type).

Generate Sequential Reports

Generate a complete thematic research report based on Gallica sources. The report includes:

• A formatted bibliography.
• An introduction.
• Historical background.
• Analysis.
• Conclusion.
• Relevant images and maps (optional).

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

After configuration, you can use the following commands in Claude Desktop:

1. Search for documents:
   • "Search for books about Victor Hugo in Gallica."
   • "Find maps of Paris in the 19th century."
2. Generate reports:
   • "Create a report on Impressionism."
   • "Generate a report on the history of Lebanon under the French mandate with images."
