A Model Context Protocol server that connects to Bluesky and provides tools for interacting with the ATProtocol.

You can use this MCP server to bring content from various Bluesky / ATProtocol API endpoints directly into the context window of your LLM application. For example, you can add it to Claude Desktop and use it there like a natural language client to interact with Bluesky.

• get - pinned - feeds: Returns all "pinned" items from the authenticated user's preferences.
• get - timeline - posts: Returns posts on the authenticated user's home timeline.

• get - list - posts: Returns posts from a specified list.
• get - user - profile: Returns profile information for a specified user.
• post - tweet: Publishes a new tweet.

📦 Installation

Install via Smithery CLI

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/bsky-mcp-server.git
cd bsky-mcp-server
npm install

2. Start the server:

node build/src/index.js

Manual Installation

1. Download and extract the source files.
2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Start the server:

node build/src/index.js

Creating App Passwords

To use this MCP server, you need to create an app password for your Bluesky account:

1. Log in to Bluesky.
2. Go to Settings > App Passwords.
3. Create a new app password specifically for this integration.
4. Set the app password using the BLUESKY_APP_PASSWORD environment variable.

🔧 Technical Details

Security Considerations

• This server only stores your session information in memory and does not share it with MCP clients.
• MCP clients can only access the tools and do not have access to your authentication or app password.
