Installation

Install via Docker:

1. Pull the image:

docker pull dnstwist/mcp-server:latest

2. Run the container:

docker run -it dnstwist/mcp-server:latest

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

Environment

• Node.js: Install Node.js and npm.
• Docker: Install Docker and ensure it is running properly.

Supported Operating Systems

• Linux: All distributions are supported.
• macOS: Tested on compatible versions.
• Windows: It is recommended to use the WSL environment.

Setup from Source Code

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/yourusername/dnstwist-mcp-server.git
cd dnstwist-mcp-server

2. Install dependencies:

npm install

3. Build and run:

docker build -t dnstwist/mcp-server .
docker run -it dnstwist/mcp-server

🐞 Troubleshooting

Docker-related Issues

1. Verify Docker Installation:

docker --version
docker ps

2. Check Docker Permissions:

• Ensure the user has permissions to run Docker commands.
• On Linux, add the user to the docker group: sudo usermod -aG docker $USER

Common Issues

1. DNS Resolution Failure: Verify that the DNS server is reachable.
2. Performance Issues: Adjust the number of threads or optimize network bandwidth.

❌ Error Messages

• “Docker is not installed or not running”: Install Docker and start the service.
• “Unable to parse dnstwist output”: Check that the domain name is valid and correctly formatted.
• “Failed to execute dnstwist”: Check the Docker logs and confirm permission issues.
