🚀 Anki-MCP Server

An MCP server integrated with Anki, implemented through the AnkiConnect plugin.

This is a TypeScript-based MCP server that demonstrates core MCP concepts and offers the following features:

• Represent Anki decks and note models as resources with URIs.
• Provide tools for creating and managing Anki notes.
• Integrate with the AnkiConnect API.

Resources

• List and access all Anki decks via the anki://decks/{id} URI.
• List and access all note models via the anki://models/{id} URI.
• JSON representation of Anki objects.

Tools

• listDecks - Get the names of all decks.
• listModels - Get the names of all note models.
• getModel - Get detailed information about a specific note model.
• addNote - Create a single note.
  • Specify the deck name, model name, fields, and tags.
• addNotes - Create multiple notes in batches.
  • Create multiple notes using the specified parameters.

📦 Installation

Development

Install dependencies:

npm install

Build the server:

npm run build

Development with automatic rebuild:

npm run watch

Deployment

To use on Claude Desktop, add the server configuration:

On MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

🔧 Technical Details

Debugging

Since the MCP server communicates via stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using MCP Inspector, which is available as a package script:

npm run inspector

The Inspector will provide a URL to access the debugging tools in the browser.
