🚀 Git Prompt MCP Server

This repository provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that can generate prompts with multiple commands based on the content of a Git repository.

(This repository draws a great deal of inspiration from the MarkItDown MCP Server and the example Git MCP Server.)

Manual Installation

1. Clone this repository.
2. Install the dependencies: uv sync --frozen

As an MCP Server for Zed Editor

Add the following content to your settings.json:

Commands

The server responds to the following commands:

1. /git-diff <ancestor_branch_or_commit>: Generate a diff based on the HEAD and the specified ancestor branch or commit.
2. /generate-pr-desc <ancestor_branch_or_commit>: Generate a pull request description based on the diff between the HEAD and the specified ancestor branch or commit.

• Note: This command is basically the same as /git-diff, but includes instructions to generate a pull request description at the end.

3. /git-cached-diff: Generate a diff for committed changes and the HEAD.

Examples:
