Qdrant Vector Database

🚀 MCP Server Based on Qdrant

This project combines the Qdrant vector database with an MCP (Model Control Protocol) server to build a system for storing and retrieving code snippets.

🔧 Technical Details

System Architecture

• Qdrant: Vector database server (Ports: 6333, 6334)
• MCP Server: Code snippet management server (Port: 8000)
• Embedding Model: (Default) sentence-transformers/all-MiniLM-L6-v2

MCP Tools

The QDRANT MCP Server provides the following tools:

1. qdrant-store

• Function: Store information in the Qdrant database
• Input:
  • information (string): Information to be saved
  • metadata (JSON): Optional metadata
• Output: Storage confirmation message

2. qdrant-find

• Function: Search for relevant information in the Qdrant database
• Input:
  • query (string): Query used for the search
• Output: Information stored in the Qdrant database, presented as separate messages

🚀 Quick Start

Prerequisites

• Docker
• Docker Compose

Installation and Running

1. Clone the repository

git clone <repository-url>
cd <repository-name>

2. Start the services

docker-compose up -d

3. Check the service status

docker-compose ps

Accessing the Services

• Qdrant Interface: http://localhost:6333/dashboard
• MCP Server: http://localhost:8000
• When configuring in an AI IDE like cursor, you can use the following JSON format:

    "qdrant": {
      "url": "http://localhost:8000/sse"
    },

📦 Environment Variables

Qdrant

• RUST_LOG: Log level (Default: info)

MCP Server

• QDRANT_URL: Qdrant server address
• COLLECTION_NAME: Collection name
• EMBEDDING_MODEL: Embedding model
• TOOL_STORE_DESCRIPTION: Description of the storage tool
• TOOL_FIND_DESCRIPTION: Description of the search tool

🗄️ Data Storage

Data will be permanently stored in the ./qdrant_storage directory.

Viewing Logs

docker-compose logs -f

Stopping Services

docker-compose down

⚠️ Important Note

• Regularly back up the qdrant_storage directory to prevent data loss.
• In a production environment, add appropriate security configurations.
