A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides time and timezone conversion functions. This server enables Large Language Models (LLMs) to obtain current time information and perform timezone conversions using IANA timezone names. It can also automatically detect the system timezone.

The Time MCP Server offers time and timezone conversion capabilities, allowing LLMs to access current time information and perform timezone conversions. You can quickly set up and use this server through the following steps.

• Time Conversion: Employ the convert_time tool to convert time between different timezones.
• Automatic Timezone Detection: The server can automatically detect the system timezone, and you can also manually specify the timezone.

📦 Installation

Using uv (Recommended)

When using uv, no specific installation is required. We will directly use uvx to run mcp-server-time.

Using pip

Alternatively, you can install time-mcp-local via pip:

pip install time-mcp-local

After installation, you can run it as a script using the following command:

python -m time-mcp-local

Custom Settings

By default, the server automatically detects the system timezone. If you need to override the default behavior, you can specify the timezone using the following command:

uv run --env TZ=Asia/Shanghai time-mcp-local
