🚀 Scryfall MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for interacting with the Scryfall API. It provides tools to look up detailed information, card rules, and price information for Magic: The Gathering cards.

🚀 Quick Start

This server can run in two modes:

1. Standard stdio mode (default)
2. Server-Sent Events (SSE) mode with an HTTP endpoint

Using NPX

If you have Node.js installed locally:

# Stdio mode
npx scryfall-mcp-server

# SSE mode
npx scryfall-mcp-server --sse

Connecting to the Server

Stdio Mode

Your application or environment (e.g., Claude Desktop) can communicate directly with the server via stdio.

SSE Mode

When running in SSE mode (with --sse), you can connect using the MCP CLI:

npx @wong2/mcp-cli --sse http://localhost:3000/sse

The server will be available at the following locations respectively:

• SSE endpoint: http://localhost:3000/sse
• Message endpoint: http://localhost:3000/messages

Building with Docker

docker build -t mcp/scryfall .

Then run in Stdio mode:

docker run -i --rm mcp/scryfall

Or run in SSE mode:

docker run -i --rm -p 3000:3000 mcp/scryfall --sse

• Search for Cards
  Perform a search on Scryfall based on text. Returns a list of matching cards.
• Get Card by ID
  Retrieve a card directly by its Scryfall UUID.
• Get Card by Name
  Retrieve a card precisely by its English name.
• Random Card
  Get a random card from the entire Scryfall database.
• Get Rules
  Retrieve the official rules for a card, which may explain card interactions or regulations.
• Get Price Information by ID
  Retrieve current price information (USD, USD Foil, EUR, TIX) based on the Scryfall ID.
• Get Price Information by Name
  Retrieve the current price information (USD, USD Foil, EUR, TIX) for a card precisely by its English name.
