🚀 Git Forensic MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server dedicated to in - depth analysis of large Git codebases. This forensic tool offers detailed insights into repository history, branch relationships, and development patterns, focusing on Git repository analysis rather than general GitHub or Git operations.

🚀 Quick Start

The server runs as an MCP service and can be integrated with any compatible MCP client. All analysis results are written to the specified output file in JSON format.

The server provides four main analysis tools:

1. Branch Overview (get_branch_overview)

   • Offers a high - level view of branch status and relationships.
   • Analyzes the last commit, number of commits, and merge baselines.
   • Generates a statistical summary of branch activities.

2. Time Period Analysis (analyze_time_period)

   • Analyzes detailed development activities within a specific time range.
   • Categorizes commits (features, fixes, refactoring, documentation, others).
   • Provides a summary of activities by commit patterns.

3. File Change Analysis (analyze_file_changes)

   • Tracks changes to specific files across different branches.
   • Identifies potential conflict areas.
   • Provides risk assessments.
   • Generates a recommended review order based on risk levels.

4. Merge Recommendations (get_merge_recommendations)

   • Determines the optimal merge strategy.
   • Evaluates conflict risks.
   • Identifies code hotspots.
   • Provides step - by - step merge guidance.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

The server runs as an MCP service and can be integrated with any compatible MCP client. All analysis results are written to the specified output file in JSON format.

Advanced Usage

Each tool requires specific parameters:

• repoPath: Path to the Git repository.
• branches: An array of branch names to analyze.
• outputPath: Location where the analysis results will be written.
• Other tool - specific parameters:
  • timeRange: Start and end dates for time period analysis.
  • files: An array of file paths for file change analysis.
