🚀 DaVinci Resolve MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for interacting with DaVinci Resolve and Fusion. This server enables AI assistants like Claude to directly communicate with and control DaVinci Resolve through the Model Context Protocol.

📦 Installation

Prerequisites

• DaVinci Resolve Studio (version 17 or higher recommended).
• Python 3.8 or higher.
• Claude Desktop (for AI integration).

Setup

1. Clone this repository:

   git clone https://github.com/apvlv/davinci-resolve-mcp.git
   cd davinci-resolve-mcp
   

2. Install the required dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

3. Install the MCP server in Claude Desktop:

   mcp install src/resolve_mcp/server.py
   

   Alternatively, for development in editable mode, use the following command:

   mcp install src/resolve_mcp/server.py --with-editable .
   

💻 Usage Examples

Using in Claude Desktop

1. Start DaVinci Resolve.
2. Connect to the "DaVinci Resolve MCP" server in Claude Desktop.
3. Now you can directly interact with DaVinci Resolve through Claude.

Using 5ire

5ire is an open - source cross - platform desktop AI assistant and MCP client compatible with this server.

1. Install from GitHub or use Homebrew on macOS:

   brew tap brewforge/extras
   brew install --cask 5ire
   

2. Start DaVinci Resolve.
3. Add the DaVinci Resolve MCP server in 5ire.
4. Connect to the server using your chosen AI model (OpenAI, Claude, etc.).
5. Now you can directly interact with DaVinci Resolve through 5ire.

Available Commands

Resources (Information Retrieval)

• DaVinci Resolve: Display the current status and version information of DaVinci Resolve.
• project.info: Get detailed information about the current project.
• media.list: List all media files and their attributes in the media pool.

Project Management

• project.new: Create a new empty project.
• project.open "path": Open a project at the specified path.
• project.save: Save the current project.
• project.close: Close the current project.

Timeline Operations

• timeline.create: Create a new timeline in the current project.
• timeline.delete: Delete the specified timeline.
• timeline.select: Select and return detailed information about the specified timeline.
• timeline.export "path": Export the current timeline to the specified path.

Media Management

• folder.create "name": Create a new folder in the media pool.
• folder.delete "name": Delete the specified folder.
• media.import "path" "destination": Import media files to the specified location.
• media.move "source" "destination": Move the specified media file or folder.

Fusion Integration

• fusion newNode: Create a new node in the current Fusion workspace.
• fusion connect "inputNode" "outputNode": Connect two nodes.
• fusion evaluate: Evaluate and return the result of the current Fusion workspace.

🔧 Technical Details

This server uses the Model Context Protocol to communicate between Claude and DaVinci Resolve. It leverages DaVinci Resolve's Python API to control the application.
