🚀 MCP Gateway Server for Voitta

This MCP server provides gateway functionality for the Voitta library, allowing you to leverage Voitta's capabilities through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). It supports two transmission methods: STDIO and SSE.

📦 Installation

1. Clone this repository.
2. Install the dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

System Requirements

• Python 3.10+
• Dependencies listed in requirements.txt (including voitta)

Configuration

The server reads the Voitta configuration from a YAML file. By default, it looks for the file at /Users/gregory/g/projects/llm/roma/voitta-example/config/voitta.yaml, but you can specify a different path using the CONFIG_PATH environment variable.

The configuration file should follow the format expected by the Voitta library. For more details, refer to the Voitta documentation.

Basic Usage

You can run the server in different ways:

Run in VSCode

You can run the server directly from VSCode using the provided launch configuration.

Run from the command line

Run the server using the following command:

python server.py

For HTTP mode (SSE transmission):

FASTMCP_HTTP=1 PORT=10000 python server.py

Test with MCP Inspector

MCP Inspector is a useful tool for testing and debugging MCP servers. Here are the steps to use it with the Voitta gateway:

1. Start MCP Inspector:

   npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector
   

2. Open the Inspector console in your browser: http://localhost:5173

3. For STDIO transmission (recommended for testing):

   Option 1: Use python directly

   • Select "STDIO" as the transmission type.
   • Set the command to: python (or python3, depending on your system).
   • Set the parameters to: server.py.

   Option 2: Use uv

   • Select "STDIO" as the transmission type.
   • Set the command to: uv.
   • Set the parameters to: run --with fastmcp --with pyyaml --with voitta --with pydantic server.py.

   Option 3: Use fastmcp and full path

   • Select "STDIO" as the transmission type.
   • Set the command to: /path/to/your/fastmcp (e.g., /Users/gregory/g/projects/llm/roma/mcp-voitta-gateway/.venv/bin/fastmcp).
   • Set the parameters to: run /full/path/to/server.py (e.g., run /Users/gregory/g/projects/llm/roma/mcp-voitta-gateway/server.py).

   Option 4: Use cd and fastmcp

   • Select "STDIO" as the transmission type.
   • Set the command to: bash (or your shell).
   • Set the parameters to: -c "cd /Users/gregory/g/projects/llm/roma/mcp-voitta-gateway && fastmcp run server.py".

4. Click "Connect" to establish a connection with the server.

5. After connecting, you can:

   • View and modify the context in the "Basic Information" tab.
   • Execute operations using the "Actions" button.
   • View the log output.

For HTTP transmission (recommended for testing):

1. Start MCP Inspector and navigate to the interface.
2. Set up a proxy or connect directly to the server's HTTP endpoint.

Run as a client

Run in client mode using the following command:

fastmcp run client.yaml

Testing

Basic Testing

1. Start the server:

   python server.py
   

2. Connect to the server and interact with it using MCP Inspector or other tools.

Advanced Testing

• Test the server's scalability and stability by configuring different contexts and operations.
• Use performance testing tools to simulate high-concurrency requests and evaluate the server's processing capacity.
