🚀 Sequential Story MCP Server

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for structuring complex problem-solving, combining sequential thinking and sequential stories as mnemonic techniques.

📋 Overview

This project offers two complementary MCP tools for problem-solving:

1. Sequential Stories - A narrative-based approach to sequential thinking. Instead of tracking abstract ideas, it structures problems as elements in a story plot, including characters, settings, and plot developments, making it more memorable and engaging.

2. Sequential Thinking - A pure Python implementation of the JavaScript version, eliminating the Node.js dependency.

Both methods leverage the power of sequences and structures to enhance memory retention and problem understanding.

📦 Installation

During Development

When working locally before release:

Installation using MCP

You can also configure the Claude desktop to use the tool by adding the following to Claude's mcpServers.json:

The environment variable TOOLS controls the enabled tools. By default, only the sequential story tool is enabled, but the sequential thinking tool can be added as needed.

This is useful when you want to focus on a specific problem-solving method or integrate with other MCP tools. You can also update the environment variables directly in the Claude desktop app after installation.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

1. Install Dependencies: Ensure you have Python and pip installed. Then run pip install -r requirements.txt.
2. Configure Environment Variables (Optional): Set the TOOLS environment variable as needed to enable specific features.
3. Run the Tools:
   • For sequential stories, use python src/story_generator.py.
   • For sequential thinking, use python src/thinker.py.
4. Input Interaction: Follow the prompts to enter your queries or problems.
