🚀 Hetzner Cloud MCP Server Guide

The Hetzner Cloud MCP Server is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for interacting with the Hetzner Cloud API. It enables language models to manage Hetzner cloud resources through structured functions.

The Hetzner Cloud MCP Server allows you to interact with the Hetzner Cloud API. After starting the server, it runs on the specified port (default is 8000), and clients can communicate with it via HTTP or gRPC protocols.

• Server Management: Supports listing, creating, deleting, starting, shutting down, and restarting servers.
• Volume Management: Supports listing, creating, deleting, attaching, and detaching volumes, as well as resizing volumes.
• Firewall Management: Supports listing, creating, updating, and deleting firewall rules, and applying firewalls to servers or server groups.
• SSH Key Management: Supports listing, creating, updating, and deleting SSH keys.
• Resource Information: Provides information on available operating system images, server types, and data center locations.

📦 Installation

Requirements

• Python Version: Python 3.11 or higher is required.
• API Credentials: A Hetzner Cloud API token is needed for authentication.

Installation Methods

Method 1: Direct Installation

1. Clone the code repository:

   git clone https://github.com/your-repository.git
   cd your-repository
   

2. Install dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

3. Create a configuration file:

   • Create a .env file in the project root directory and add the following content:

     HETZNER_TOKEN=your_api_token_here
     

4. Start the server:

   python main.py
   

Method 2: Install with pip

1. Install directly using pip:

   pip install your-package-name
   

2. Create a configuration file .env with the same content as above.

3. Start the server:

   your-package-name start
   

💻 Usage Examples

Running the MCP Server

• After starting the server, it will run on the specified port (default is 8000).
• Clients can communicate with the server via HTTP or gRPC protocols.

Server Management

• list_servers: List all servers.
• get_server: Get detailed information about a specific server.
• create_server: Create a new server.
• delete_server: Delete a server.
• power_on: Start a server.
• power_off: Shut down a server.
• reboot: Restart a server.

Volume Management

• list_volumes: List all volumes.
• get_volume: Get detailed information about a specific volume.
• create_volume: Create a new volume.
• delete_volume: Delete a volume.
• attach_volume: Attach a volume to a server.
• detach_volume: Detach a volume from a server.
• resize_volume: Resize a volume.

Firewall Management

• list_firewalls: List all firewall rules.
• get_firewall: Get detailed information about a specific firewall.
• create_firewall: Create a new firewall rule.
• update_firewall: Update the name or tags of a firewall.
• delete_firewall: Delete a firewall rule.
• set_firewall_rules: Set or update firewall rules.
• apply_firewall_to_resources: Apply a firewall to servers or server groups.
• remove_firewall_from_resources: Remove a firewall from servers or server groups.
