This is an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that allows Claude AI to directly interact with MySQL databases.

📦 Installation

Install via Smithery

To automatically install the database tools via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @elber-code/database-tools --client claude

To install and use this tool, follow these steps:

1. Clone or download the repository

   git clone [repository-url]
   

   Or download and extract the ZIP file.

2. Install dependencies Navigate to the project directory and run:

   npm install
   

📚 Configuration

To enable Claude to use this tool, you need to add the configuration to the claude_desktop_config.json file, typically located at:

C:\Users\YOUR_USER\AppData\Roaming\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Once configured, you can interact with the MySQL database via Claude using commands similar to the following:

1. List all databases "Execute a query in MySQL to show databases."

2. View tables in a database "Execute a query in MySQL to show the name_table table."

3. Query the size of a table "Execute a query in MySQL to show the size of the name_table table."

4. Execute a custom query "Execute a query in MySQL: 'Describe what you want the query to do.'"

🔒 Security

This tool runs with the configuration permissions in the mysql.js file. Ensure that the provided credentials have only the minimum required permissions for operations.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

If you encounter connection issues, check the following:

• Whether MySQL is running.
• Whether the credentials in mysql.js are correct.
• Whether the path in the Claude configuration file is correct.

To query the database, simply ask Claude a question like: "Show all MySQL databases" or "What is the size of the users table?"
