MCP Fetch

🚀 MCP Fetch Tool

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for scraping web content and processing images. This enables Claude Desktop (or any MCP client) to scrape web content and handle images appropriately.

🚀 Quick Start (Users)

To use this tool with Claude Desktop, add the following to your Claude Desktop configuration file (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json):

This will automatically download and run the latest version of the tool if necessary.

⚙️ Required Settings

1. Enable Claude's accessibility features:
   • Open System Settings.
   • Go to "Privacy & Security" > "Accessibility".
   • Click the "+" button.
   • Add Claude from your Applications folder.
   • Toggle on Claude.

This accessibility setting is required for automatic clipboard operations (Cmd+V).

📋 Prerequisites

• Node.js 18+
• macOS (for clipboard operations)
• Claude Desktop (installed from https://claude.ai/desktop)
• tsx (installed via npm install -g tsx)

📦 Installation

Install with Smithery

To automatically install the MCP Fetch Tool via Smithery:

npx -y @smithery/cli install @kazuph/mcp-fetch --client claude

Manual Installation

cd mcp-fetch
npm install
npm run build

🖼️ Image Processing Specifications

When scraping images from web content, the following limitations will apply:

• A maximum of 6 images per group.
• A maximum height of 8000 pixels per group.
• A maximum size of 30MB per group.

If the content exceeds these limits, the images will be automatically split into multiple groups, and multiple pastes (Cmd+V) will be required.

⚙️ Configuration

1. Ensure that Claude Desktop is installed and running.

2. Install tsx globally if not already installed:

npm install -g tsx
# Or
pnpm add -g tsx

3. Modify your Claude Desktop configuration file located at: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

You can easily find this file by following these steps:

1. Open Claude Desktop.
2. Click "Claude" in the menu bar.
3. Click "Settings".
4. Click "Developer".

Add the following to your MCP client configuration:

🛠️ Available Tools

• fetch: Scrapes URLs from the internet and extracts their content in Markdown format. Images are automatically processed and prepared for clipboard operations.

⚠️ Important Notes

• This tool is designed specifically for macOS due to its reliance on macOS-specific clipboard operations.
• Images are processed using Sharp for optimal performance and quality.
• When multiple images are found, they are vertically merged, taking size limitations into account.
• Animated GIFs are automatically processed by extracting the first frame.
