🚀 MCP Easy Copy

A Model Context Protocol server that allows you to easily discover and copy MCP services configured in Claude Desktop.

🚀 Quick Start

This MCP server is designed to be your first stop when using Claude Desktop. It addresses the issue of having to remember MCP service names or look them up in the configuration file by:

1. Automatically reading the Claude Desktop configuration file.
2. Extracting all configured MCP service names.
3. Displaying them in an easily copyable format at the top of the tool list.

Although Claude can now automatically select the appropriate MCP service in most cases, there are still situations where users need to explicitly specify an MCP service name. These situations include:

• When multiple MCP services are configured, making the tool list long and difficult to navigate.
• When a specific MCP service offers multiple callable operations, further increasing the list length.
• When you need to instruct Claude to use a specific service instead of relying on its automatic selection.
• When troubleshooting or comparing the results of different MCP services.

This tool bridges the gap, allowing you to easily access all available services without looking up the configuration file.

📦 Installation

Option 1: Install via npm (Recommended)

Option 3: Manual Installation

1. Download the compressed package.
2. Extract the files.
3. Place the mcp-easy-copy folder in the following directory:
   • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/mcp-servers/
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\mcp-servers\

Basic Usage

1. After installation, restart Claude Desktop.
2. When configuring MCP services, select "MCP Easy Copy" in the toolbar.

Troubleshooting

If the tool does not work as expected:

1. Check the logs: View the log files.

   • macOS: ~/Library/Logs/Claude/mcp-server-mcp-easy-copy.log
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\mcp-server-mcp-easy-copy.log

2. Verify the configuration: Ensure that claude_desktop_config.json is valid JSON.

3. Check Node.js: Ensure that Node.js is correctly installed (node --version).

4. Restart Claude: Always restart Claude Desktop after making configuration changes.

5. Use the Inspector: Run npm run inspector to use the MCP Inspector for debugging.

Future Vision

Although we are unaware of Anthropic's roadmap, we envision that future versions of the Claude client may implement features such as autocomplete when using the '@' symbol. Such a feature might display a dropdown list of available MCP services, making it easier for users to instruct Claude to use a specific service.

Even if such improvements ultimately render this project obsolete, we would be glad to see the evolution of Claude's interface to enhance the user experience. After all, the goal of this tool is to make MCP services more accessible, and if these features are directly integrated into Claude, it would be the ultimate success.
