🚀 Wordware MCP Server

An implementation of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows integrating workflows deployed on Wordware directly as tools into Claude conversations.

The Wordware MCP Server enables seamless integration of Wordware workflows into Claude conversations. Follow the steps below to get started.

📦 Installation

1. Modify the env.example.ts file in the root directory

Rename env.example.ts to env.ts and set the variables inside. Using a regular .env file seems complex as variables need to be passed to the server environment and used in Claude Desktop configuration. We'll revisit if a better solution is found.

• OPENAI_API_KEY: Your OpenAI API key (used in add-tool.ts to generate zod schemas from information about Wordware workflows).
• NOTION_SECRET: Your Notion secret.
• NOTION_PARENT_PAGE_ID: The ID of the Notion page to save to.
• SAVE_TO_NOTION_APP_ID: The ID of your deployed "Save to Notion" app.
• RESEARCH_FOUNDER_APP_ID: The ID of your deployed "Research Founder" app.
• LEAD_ENRICHMENT_APP_ID: The ID of your deployed "Lead Enrichment" app.
• REACT_AGENT_APP_ID: The ID of your deployed "React Agent" app.

To set up the saveToNotion tool on Notion, follow the instructions here.

If you don't want to use a particular tool, leave the corresponding environment variable empty, and the tool won't be registered.

2. Install dependencies and build the server

npm install
npm run build-server

3. Test the server using Claude Desktop

You need to have Claude Desktop installed to test the server. If installed, modify the configuration file to use the MCP server. Run the following command to open the configuration file (if using VSCode):

code ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Then add the following to the file (replace /ABSOLUTE/PATH/TO/PARENT/FOLDER/wordware/build/index.js with the absolute path to the index.js file in the build folder of this repository):

4. Use the add-tool command (optional but recommended)

Note: The add-tool command has only been tested on a few simple Wordware workflows. Since it relies on OpenAI to generate schemas, verify the tool output before use.

To run the tool:

npm run add-tool

🔧 Technical Details

Future Improvements - Dynamic Tool Configuration

Currently, tools are hard - coded in the server implementation. Future improvements should focus on:

• Implementing authentication with the Wordware API.
• Adding the ability to automatically fetch user deployments.
• Determining deployments that can be automatically added as MCP tools.
• Better supporting complex blocks (e.g., "Ask Human" blocks).
• Providing better error handling for tool calls.
