A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides access to InfluxDB instances using the InfluxDB OSS API v2. Mostly built with Claude Code.

This InfluxDB MCP server offers access to InfluxDB instances, enabling users to manage resources, perform operations, and utilize prompt templates.

This MCP server provides the following features:

• Resources: Access to organizations, buckets, and measurement data.
• Tools: Write data, execute queries, and manage database objects.
• Prompt Templates: Examples of common Flux queries and guides on the Line Protocol format.

📦 Resources

The server exposes the following resources:

1. List of Organizations: influxdb://orgs

   • Displays all organizations in the InfluxDB instance.

2. List of Buckets: influxdb://buckets

   • Shows all buckets and their metadata.

3. Bucket Measurements: influxdb://bucket/{bucketName}/measurements

   • Lists all measurements within the specified bucket.

4. Query Data: influxdb://query/{orgName}/{fluxQuery}

   • Executes a Flux query and returns the results as a resource.

🛠️ Tools

The server provides the following tools:

1. write-data: Writes time-series data in line protocol format.

   • Parameters: organization, bucket, data, precision (optional).

2. query-data: Executes a Flux query.

   • Parameters: organization, query.

3. create-bucket: Creates a new bucket.

   • Parameters: name, organization, metadata (optional).

4. create-org: Creates a new organization.

   • Parameters: organization name.

2. Line Protocol Format Guide: Explains how to write data in the Line Protocol format.

⚙️ Configuration

To configure the InfluxDB MCP server, add the following environment variables:

INFLUXDB_URL=http://localhost:8086
INFLUXDB_TOKEN=your-influxdb-token

📦 Installation

Install using npx

npx influx-mcp-server@latest --install

Global Installation

npm install -g influx-mcp-server

Install from Source

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/your-repository.git
   cd your-repository
   

2. Install dependencies:

   npm install
   

3. Start the server:

   npm start
