📦 Installation

Before installing and running the TMDB MCP server, ensure the following prerequisites are installed and configured:

Required Software

• Node.js

  • Version 18.0.0 or higher
  • Download from: Node.js official website
  • Verify installation: node --version

• npm (Node Package Manager)

  • Version 8.0.0 or higher (comes with Node.js)
  • Verify installation: npm --version

• TypeScript

  • Automatically installed as a project dependency
  • Can be globally installed: npm install -g typescript
  • Verify installation: tsc --version

Required Accounts and API Keys

• TMDB Account
  • Register a free account on TMDB
  • Obtain an API key from the TMDB dashboard
  • Requires TMDB review for access

System Requirements

• Operating System: Linux, macOS, or Windows
• Memory: At least 512MB RAM

Development Environment

• It is recommended to use a code editor (e.g., VS Code) for development

Installation Methods

Method 1: Manual Installation

1. Copy the repository URL and run the following command:

   git clone [repository-url]
   

2. Navigate to the directory and install dependencies:

   cd mcp-server-tmdb
   npm install
   

Method 2: Install using Smithery CLI

npm install -y @smithery/cli 
npx smithery install @Laksh-star/mcp-server-tmdb --client claude
