Using Claude Desktop

Using npx

If you have npm installed, this is the quickest way to get started with podman-mcp-server on Claude Desktop.

Open your claude_desktop_config.json file and add the MCP server to the mcpServers list:

Using VS Code / VS Code Insiders

Run the following command in your terminal to start the Podman MCP server:

goose mcp serve --name podman

2. Start the server in HTTP mode and specify the certificate and key:

# Install dependencies
npm install @modelcontextprotocol/inspector

# Start the Podman MCP server and attach inspectors
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector@latest podman-mcp-server
