🚀 AWS Service Reference MCP Server

This MCP server provides tools to interact with the AWS programmatic service reference, allowing you to:

• List all available AWS services.
• Get API operations for a specific AWS service.
• Get condition keys supported by a specific API operation.
• Get resource types supported by a specific API operation.

🚀 Quick Start

📦 Installation

1. Ensure Python 3.10 or a higher version is installed.
2. Clone this repository.
3. Install the required dependencies:

# Create and activate a virtual environment (recommended)
python -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate  # On Unix/macOS
.venv\Scripts\activate     # On Windows

# Install dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

Run the Server

You can directly run the server:

python aws_service_reference.py

Integrate with Claude Desktop

1. Open your Claude Desktop configuration file:
   • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
2. Add the server configuration:

Replace /ABSOLUTE/PATH/TO/ with the actual path where you saved the server file. 3. Restart Claude Desktop

Advanced Usage

Available Tools

The server provides four tools:

1. list_aws_services: List all available AWS services.
2. get_service_actions: Get API operations for a specific AWS service.
3. get_action_condition_keys: Get condition keys supported by a specific API operation.
4. get_action_resource_types: Get resource types supported by a specific API operation.

Example Usage with Claude

After connecting, you can ask Claude the following questions:

• "What are the available AWS services?"
• "Show all API operations for the S3 service."
• "What condition keys are supported by the s3:PutObject operation?"
• "What resource types can be used for the ec2:RunInstances operation?"

🔧 Technical Details

Test with MCP Inspector

You can use MCP Inspector to test the server:

mcp dev aws_service_reference.py

Dependencies

The project uses the following dependencies (specified in requirements.txt):

• mcp[cli]>=0.1.0: Model Context Protocol SDK with CLI tools.
• httpx>=0.26.0: A modern HTTP client for making API requests.

🛠️ Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues:

1. Verify that the Python version is 3.10 or higher.
2. Ensure all dependencies are correctly installed:

pip install -r requirements.txt

3. Check the Claude Desktop logs:
   • macOS: ~/Library/Logs/Claude/mcp*.log
   • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\mcp*.log
4. Ensure an absolute path is used in the Claude Desktop configuration.
