A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows you to use OpenAI's models directly from Claude.

🚀 Quick Start

Just start a conversation with Claude. When you want to use OpenAI's models, simply ask Claude to use them.

For example, you can say:

Can you ask o1 what it thinks about this question?

Or,

What does gpt-4o think about this?

📦 Installation

First, make sure you have installed the Claude desktop app and requested an OpenAI API key.

Add the following to your claude_desktop_config.json (on Mac, you can find it at ~/Library/Application\ Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json):

This configuration allows the Claude desktop app to start the OpenAI MCP server when needed.

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

The current server supports the following models:

• gpt-4o (default)
• gpt-4o-mini
• o1-preview
• o1-mini

Advanced Usage

Tools

1. openai_chat
   • Send messages to OpenAI's chat completion API.
   • Parameters:
     • messages: An array of messages (required).
     • model: The model to use (optional, default is gpt-4o).

• Node.js >= 18 (including npm and npx).
• Claude desktop app.
• OpenAI API key.

Issues

This is alpha software and may have some issues. If you encounter problems, check the MCP logs of the Claude desktop:
