This IMAP MCP server enables AI models to interact with email systems through the MCP protocol. It supports the following features:

🚀 Getting Started

Prerequisites

• Python 3.8 or higher
• IMAP email account credentials
• Install dependencies: pip install python-imaplib

Installation

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/imaps_mcp_server.git
   cd imaps_mcp_server
   

2. Install dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

Configuration Example

Edit config/settings.py to configure your email account and other settings.

💻 Development

Set up the development environment

1. Create a virtual environment:

   python -m venv venv
   source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows, use: venv\Scripts\activate
   

2. Install development dependencies:

   pip install -e ".[dev]"
   

Run tests

pytest tests/

🔒 Security Considerations

• Use environment variables or secure credential storage to manage email credentials.
• Consider using app - specific passwords instead of the main account password.
• Limit access to the email server and grant only necessary permissions.
