🚀 AWS MCP Server

The AWS Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a server that allows AI assistants like Claude to interact with your AWS environment. This makes it possible to query and manage your AWS resources using natural language in conversations. It can be considered a better alternative to Amazon Q.

📋 Prerequisites

• Node.js
• Claude Desktop
• Locally configured AWS credentials (~/.aws/ directory)

📦 Installation

1. Clone the repository:

git clone https://github.com/RafalWilinski/aws-mcp
cd aws-mcp

2. Install dependencies:

pnpm install
# or
npm install

💻 Usage Examples

Basic Usage

1. Open the Claude desktop application, go to Settings -> Developers -> Edit Configuration.

2. Add the following content to your claude_desktop_config.json file:

⚠️ Important Note

Please replace /Users/<YOUR USERNAME>/aws-mcp with the actual path of your project.

3. Restart the Claude desktop application. You should see the following interface:

4. Start using it. You can select an AWS profile or operate directly through conversations:
   • "List available AWS profiles"
   • "List all EC2 instances in my account"
   • "Show S3 buckets and their sizes"
   • "Which Lambda functions are deployed in the us - east - 1 region?"
   • "List all ECS clusters and their services"

Advanced Usage

Build from source using nvm and add the following to your configuration:

🔧 Troubleshooting

View logs:
