📦 Installation

Prerequisites

1. Install Python 3.12 or a higher version.
2. Download and install the STK desktop version (a license is required).
3. Ensure the pywin32 library is installed on the system (automatically handled on Windows).

Steps

1. Clone the repository:

   git clone https://github.com/yourusername/stk-mcp.git
   cd stk-mcp
   

2. Install the dependencies:

   pip install -r requirements.txt
   

3. Start the server:

   python server.py
   

💻 Usage Examples

MCP Tools

setup_scenario

• Description: Create or configure an STK scenario, closing any existing scenarios.
• Parameters:
  • scenario_name (str): The scenario name, defaulting to "MCP_STK_Scenario".
  • start_time (str): The start time, defaulting to "20 Jan 2020 17:00:00.000".
  • duration_hours (float): The duration in hours, defaulting to 48.0.

create_satellite

• Description: Create or modify an STK satellite, assuming an active scenario exists.
• Parameters:
  • name (str): The satellite name.
  • apogee_alt_km (float): The apogee altitude in kilometers.
  • perigee_alt_km (float): The perigee altitude in kilometers.
  • raan_deg (float): The right ascension of the ascending node in degrees.
  • inclination_deg (float): The inclination in degrees.

Examples

1. After starting the server, open the MCP inspector URL (e.g., http://127.0.0.1:8765).
2. Find the "STK Control" server.
3. Execute setup_scenario and create_satellite in the tools section.

📚 Documentation

Future Development

• Add Ground Positions: Add MCP tools to add facility or location objects.
• Resource Endpoints: Add MCP resources (e.g., get_scenario_details, list_objects) to query the STK status.
• Enhanced Satellite Definition: Provide more comprehensive satellite configuration options.
• Analysis Tool Access: Implement the ability to calculate and report access between objects.
• Error Handling: Improve the error reporting to the MCP client.

Dependencies

• agi.stk12: Used to interact with the STK desktop version (manually installed from STK).
• mcp[cli]>=1.6.0: The Model Context Protocol library.
• pywin32: Automatically installed on Windows for COM interaction.

Limitations

• Windows Only: Heavily relies on the COM automation of the STK desktop version.
• Requires STK Desktop: Currently does not support the STK engine.
• Basic Functionality: Currently limited to scenario setup and basic satellite creation.
• Single Scenario Focus: Assumes interaction with a single active scenario managed by the setup_scenario tool.
